About Sleepy Hollow Bookshop
We have an extensive selection ranging from baby board books and beautifully illustrated early childhood picture books to middle-grade chapter books, and young adult titles. We LOVE children’s and young adult books! And, what we love even more than the books, is connecting children and teens with books that will make them laugh, cry, think, learn… or even all those things together. We are always available to help you choose a terrific book for any child (or child-at-heart) based on the reader’s interests and reading level.
Whether you’re looking for the latest children’s bestseller or a more obscure gem, we can help you find it. We carry fiction, comic books, graphic novels, and an extensive non-fiction selection for children and teens. And don’t worry, if you want to add a character stuffed animal or seasonal merchandise to go with it, we have those too! We pay special attention to our selection of young adult titles because it’s not always easy for this group to find a wide range of content that’s not too childish.
About the Founder
After 15 years of living in Sleepy Hollow and listening to residents’ desire for a local place to buy children’s books and a place to gather, Leah Bloom decided to combine both ideas in the Sleepy Hollow Bookshop. It has been a longtime dream of hers to run a shop that centers on community and connects children and teens with reading. Previously, Leah worked for 10 years as a librarian at SUNY Purchase. Before attending graduate school to become a librarian, Leah worked in the business world as an environmental consultant.
Leah and her husband Doug moved to Sleepy Hollow in 2006 after attending a wedding locally and deciding this was the place to be. They still live in Sleepy Hollow, now with their two boys and one somewhat sneaky dog, Kona. You can find the boys’ (and their friends’) favorite books highlighted in the store. Leah and Doug now believe even more that Sleepy Hollow is the place to be, especially the awesome Bookshop at 95 Beekman Ave.
